  first a publisher, now GF wants me baptized by Sept...

  well i made publisher a couple of weeks ago.

  i shared that story on here.

  but now iam getting pressured into being baptized in september.

  Good advise from everyone here. Believe me I am speaking from 40 years of experience. Once you are baptized there is no going back. They will have you hooked and then from that point on you can never be yourself. There will be no going back and you will not be able to question anything.

  I lived in a loveless marriage for 20+ years to Jdub that I could never do anything good enough for her. It was always, you must spend more time in the field service, why aren't you a MS yet, why don't you go to more meetings? No sex unless it is approved by the local elders. Can't have recreational fun as this is not becoming of a "Christian". No friends unless they are other Jdubs etc. That is what you are looking forward to. If this still sounds appealing for you go for it but after don't say we didn't warn you.

  Elder Condemned Me to Death

  i have been thinking about this because of another post where the question asks have any of us ever been blackmailed to stay in the watchtower organization.. no, i won't say i was blackmailed; however, after i wrote my note of disassociation, the congregation overseer wanted to visit me in my home with two other elders.

  i repeatedly said no, that i would not allow them to chastise me in my own home.

  therefore, all of my conversations were over the phone with the overseer.

  When I was DF'd 10 years ago, the one elder said to me then that the time was short and not to play around too long in this old system. That was 10 years ago and since then I have been having the best time of my life.....

  what was the deal with furbies?

  one of matt's friends got me a furby over the weekend off of ebay.

  i wanted one as soon as i remembered a jdub telling me that they were forbidden...i never knew why...does anyone know?

  i played with it all day monday...i couldn't find any reason why the jdubs would ban them.... .

  When they first came out they sold for about $50.00. I just took a look on Ebay and it seems like you can't even give them away now.

  i must admit that the social pressure was a large factor in my exiting.

  though it was hell at the time i'd rather that than life as as dub now.

  Yes I got bullied at school for being a Jdub but not that many at school knew I was one. It was hard enough being accepted by my peers let alone for them to know I was a Jdub. Like so many other dubs my age, I balanced that fine line between not being a "worldly" person and being accepted by others. Although I don't regret it now for it made me a better person in that I don't need others exceptants to make me feel better about myself.

  richierich posted something about how odd witness kids parties were and it reminded me of being reinstated.

  i never quite fit when i got back in.

  i would sit in the car groups and think...are these people for real?

  That was an eye opener and the last straw for me. After I was reinstated some Jdubs treated me differently. I think this was due to my ex telling everyone her side of the story and you know how gossip gets passed around by all the good dubs as they are filling in their time between field service calls.

  Why are pigs "unclean" and what does "unclean" mean?

  there are several religions that teach that pork is an "unclean" meat and therefore should be avoided.. what, exactly, does "unclean" mean?

  when i think of "unclean" i think of something contaminated by dirt or dangerous bacteria.

  is there some other "spiritual" substance in pigs that cannot be detected?.
